Update (4/12/2026): Normally the Commissioner of Patents is appointed during the first year of the President’s term, and the term of that appointee is about 3.5 years till the end of the President’s term, and usually the Commissioner of Patents is a figurehead job only. We are now in year 2 of Trump’s second term so any appointee has only 2.5 years left so clearly Trump is not planning to appoint me as Commissioner of Patents. After I put up this web page, for the last one year, the Trump appointee for Director of the USPTO (Squires) and the Acting Commissioner of Patents (Martin-Wallace) have been asking Examiners every week to give them ideas on what to do to fix the USPTO. For me, I want to fix the USPTO myself, I want to be the Commissioner of Patents and I WANT THE CREDIT for fixing the USPTO, I want the public to know that I, as the Commissioner of Patents, fixed the USPTO for not only the people of the United States but also for the whole world (because the USPTO has more weight than all the other Patent Offices in the world combined).

is less than at least a year, it means I will have to wait and ask the next President (maybe Gavin Newsom ?) to appoint me, because I need at least a year to make any meaningful changes to the USPTO.
Last year, I sent Trump a message (see below) offering to fix the USPTO if he appointed me as Commissioner of Patents and Trump sent me an email (at least the email came from the White House, and it had Trump’s signature) and in it he mentioned his new tariffs and trade deals bringing Trillions of dollars of investment to the USA, and I truly appreciate the email he sent me, thank you, but I say to you President Trump, I am asking you to appoint me Commissioner of Patents, because you more than anyone else in the world will be thrilled with the effect of the policy changes I want to make, and you will wish you had appointed me earlier, because the policy changes I will make will have more impact on the world than ALL the tariffs in the world combined!
The picture above shows the message which I sent to President Trump, and I am 100% confident I can deliver massive (good) change for the USA and my solution for the USPTO is exactly what President Trump would like to see and there is a lot more detail than what I put in the message, and if Trump appoints me Commissioner, I will make a presentation in my first week explaining how the changes will be implemented.
I think the USPTO doesn’t like my letter to President Trump, because for the last few months I have been getting cases a little different than normal, so the USPTO management is telling me to shut up! I think China controls who examines what at the USPTO and so last year, me (and one other person) were pushed out of Art Unit 2818 which I was a part of for 13 years. Did you know, if you search on Google “Art Unit 281x USPTO”, then Google gives quite a lot of interesting information. But I think Trump would do very well to appoint me Commissioner of Patents, because I have a long line of UNIQUE inventions and my reform of the USPTO will truly be something amazing (and wonderful) to the world at large. For my PhD in semiconductor device physics I invented the one and only way to make a flat band heterojunction, Bell Labs tried and failed, no one else could do it, but I invented the ONLY WAY it is possible to do it. From the beginning of time till the end of time, there is ONLY ONE WAY to make a flat band on a heterojunction and I was the one who invented it! I published a seminal IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices paper on it, I should have got an IEEE award for it, but I got nothing. Porshe manufactured electric cars in 1900, Jay Leno showed a 1909 Baker Electric car see here, there is nothing great about anything Elon Musk did, but I invented the ONLY way to charge an electric car WHILE DRIVING down the highway, everything I invent is UNIQUE and the world will love my reform of the USPTO !
Now in this new year, I wish to repeat to Trump (or anyone who is reading this page) that my offer still stands! Trump appointed management (except Commissioner of Patents) and they have made many changes to increase number of cases examined and to increase quality at the USPTO but this is not the kind of change that I offered to make and the change I want to make is very badly needed, and if we don’t make that change, China will overtake the USA in technology by 2028 ! So President Trump, do your best to consider making me Commissioner of Patents, what do you have to lose, if you don’t like the changes I propose in the first week on the job, then replace me with someone else !
President Trump, I want the USA to become the world leader of Technology again, and even though I cannot promise it will fix all the problems, my fixes to the USPTO will go a long way to make the USA the leader in Technology for the next 50 years. If you appoint me now, it will take me a year to completely change the USPTO, if you keep me there that long and if you like the changes I make, then consider appointing me to improve other departments of government !
